Italy vs Uruguay: World: International Friendly Preview

Italy vs Uruguay predictions, betting tips and match preview

Italy vs Uruguay predictions for their World: International Friendly match in Nice, France on Wednesday, June 7. Italy plays their 2nd and last warm-up match ahead of the World Cup qualifiers.

Ready for the World International Friendlies? If you're a fan of Italy or Uruguay you should mark your calendars for Wednesday, June 7, 2017 / 8:30 PM. Who has a better shot at winning this match? It's time for the World International Friendlies. Fans and critics are looking forward to this clash. Gian Piero Ventura and Óscar Tabárez will do their best to motivate their players and win the match. Who will be victorious in the end: Italy or Uruguay?

Italy faces the nation that knocked them out of the World Cup in 2014 when they take on Uruguay at the Allianz Riviera Stadium – Mario Balotelli will not feature in this clash.

There had been suggestions that Mario Balotelli was set for a recall to the international team for the 1st time since he was substituted at half-time during that 2014 World Cup exit to the Uruguayans when Claudio Marchisio was sent off. Diego Godin scored an 81st-minute winner and Luis Suarez bit Giorgio Chiellini’s shoulder to incur a 9-match international suspension.

Mario Balotelli scored 17 goals for Nice this season, as well as being shown the red card 3 times. Italy's coach Gian Piero Ventura continues to overlook him and instead has named 6 other forwards for the friendly matches against San Marino on May 31 (won 8-0), Uruguay and the World Cup qualifier at home to Liechtenstein on June 11.

For Uruguay, much interest will surround whether Giorgio Chiellini comes face to face with Luis Suarez again, although they did meet in both matches when Juventus knocked Barcelona out of the UEFA Champions League this season.

Uruguay are coming into this match having played the Republic of Ireland in a Dublin friendly match 3 days earlier, and this is their last match before the summer break with their South American World Cup qualifying campaign resuming on August 31 with a home match against Argentina.

Uruguay haven good chances to qualify automatically for the World Cup in Russia 2018, currently 3rd in the CONMEBOL table with 4 direct places up for grabs, although it does remain very close.

Óscar Tabárez is without injured skipper Godin and striker Abel Hernandez, while Cristhian Stuani was included in the squad but not his clubmate Gaston Ramirez.
